US OPEN PROFILE |
![]() |
|
For the longest time, Phil Mickelson was the finest golfer never to have won a major. Now he's the finest to have won no more than three, elevating himself to No 2 in the World. With the 2005 PGA Championships as the only redemption in a highly inconsistent assault on the 2005 Majors (33rd at the US Open and a red-faced 60th place at the 135th Open Championship at St Andrews), Phil Mickelson has changed his fortunes in 2006, picking up his second US Masters win, and narrowly missing his maiden US Open win. His recent form has earned him the place of pride on the PGA Tour's money lists, accumulating over $4 million in the 2006 season. |
