 PROFILE
Still no major title for the Spaniard and a disappointing recent run of form suggests that his wait could go on a little longer. Twice he has put himself in a position to win a US Open and twice he has been found wanting over the closing 18 holes as his tendency to take the aggressive approach results with him being punished. The odd injury scare (he withdrew from the Barclays Classic after round one, citing a back problem) plus some really inconsistent short-range putting has held him back to date in 2006 and the latter will hinder his chance dramatically at Hoylake if a solution can not be found.
